If things are looking grimy after every wash, then your dishwasher is due for its own cleaning. Using a specific dishwasher-cleaning solution, you’ll need to run a rinse without any cups, plates or cutlery. Before you run this rinse, get at the nooks and crannies of your machine with a strong cloth. The rinse will do the rest of the work for you. Try to do this at least twice a year – your dishes will thank you for it! Cleaning the exterior Sometimes, the exterior of your dishwasher can cause it to smell weird, as the edges around the door of your dishwasher don't get washed when running it. A regular clean with a cleaner and a cloth can help prevent any foul smells in your kitchen. make sure to clean the detergent dispenser, gasket, under the door and inside. Don’t forget the filter In the base of your dishwasher lies the filter: it collects scraps of food and residue from unrinsed plates, cups and cutlery. You won’t need to clean this filter often if you load your dishwasher with well-rinsed items. We generally suggest doing this once a week; run your dishwasher’s filter under water and scrub it like a dinner plate with a brush and dishwashing liquid. Please remember to thoroughly rinse everything that goes into your dishwasher, or else the scraps will end up on future dishes, or worse...blocking your filter so that your dishwasher can’t properly drain.
